Advanced JasperReports PDF API Features
For each textfield in the report the field 'PDF Encoding' must be set (the language of the content of this textfield must be known in advance, page 52). Generate a PDF File with JasperReports and Java. Creating a Jasper Report (using grouping or not) is not a difficult task (for this we can use Jaspersoft Studio). More complicated could be to run that report from a Java EE Application. In my presentation, I will use PrimeFaces as JSF. More specific, imagine you have to generate a PDF file from Java EE Application using JasperReports Library. The report is a file in a PDF, HTML, RTF, XLS, ODT, CSV, or XML format. JasperReports uses a template to define a document structure. The template is defined either in an XML file or created with the programming API. To export the reports to PDF, the iText library is used by Jasper Reports. When viewed on various platforms, the PDF files look the same. The fontname attribute is not required when the report is exported to PDF. The font settings are specified in the pdffontname attribute. The following are some of the built-in font names: Courier.
